A 5-days immersion to dive into the practice of Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series with hands-on adjustments
Ashtanga Yoga has traditionally been taught to each student individually without group instructions from the very beginning, using minimum verbal instructions and with the so called “hands-on adjustments” – what we generally refer to as “Mysore Practice”. Once a clear & safe space has been established between the student and the teacher, the hands-on approach can be extremely beneficial in the understanding and progression of this practice.
Learning the art of hands-on adjustments will help you deepening your own understanding of the dynamics of each pose and will help you developing the ability to recognize what happens in other bodies, refining your capacity to see, feel, touch and verbalize in your teaching and/or practice.
Claudia & Eva have guided the Mysore Program in Amsterdam for 10 years together, having created a program where safety and trust are at the foundation of giving & receiving adjustments. In this workshop they will take you pose by pose through most of the asanas of the primary series, exploring for each pose the actions we look for, how to give the fundamental directions to different bodies, how to correct misalignment and how to safely deepen in the pose. You will begin to learn the principles of hands-on adjusting, of working therapeutically, and of sensing feedback from another body.
During this 5 days workshop, you will learn which assists can be used in which pose and why, in a combination of theoretical and practicum sessions, having the chance to apply into practice what you’ve been learning each day.
We will start the mornings with a Mysore practice (not on saturday). In the afternoon, the focus will be on the poses of primary series, anatomical focus and hands-on adjustments, with plenty of time to practice on each other, for feedback and for discussion.
This workshop is suitable for those of you with a regular Ashtanga Yoga practice (min 1 year), familiar with the (full) sequence of postures of the Primary Series and with an interest in learning more about the “hands-on” form of assisting. Great for teachers or teachers in training. But you don’t have to be a teacher to benefit from this workshop, as you will gain a deeper understanding of the postures of primary series, which you can apply to your own practice. It is also a lot of fun 😉

ABOUT THE TEACHERS
CLAUDIA PRADELLA
Claudia teaches yoga as a moving meditation, an uninterrupted flow of movement, breath and concentration. She brings all of her own yoga and healing experiences to her teaching, encouraging each student to become more self-aware and to explore the different aspects of yoga.
She has been practicing yoga since 1999. The encounter with Ashtanga Yoga in her early yoga journey has kindled a life long commitment to practice and to explore the manyfold benefits of this practice under the guidance of various teachers – the Jois family, Lino Miele and Eddie Stern being the most influential. She’s also extensively studied pranayama, yin yoga, mindfulness and breathwork, and has a deep passion for yoga philosophy, the Buddha-Dharma and self-inquiry.
EVA UGOLINI
Eva’s deep love and dedication for Yoga have their roots in her Ayurvedic studies when, over 20 years ago, she started to immerse herself into the understanding of the Indian traditional medicine and its way to look at the human being from a broader perspective, and since then both disciplines are central parts of her daily life.
For over 10 years while living in Amsterdam, she has been holding the Ashtanga Mysore Program with Claudia Pradella at Delight Yoga and working as an Ayurvedic massage therapist.
In those years her interest, curiosity and dedication to the practice brought her to travel around the world and have the opportunity to study, deepen her knowledge and assist some of the most world renowned Ashtanga Yoga teachers, taking inspiration from different sources. Her main guides have become Petri Räisänen and Eddie Stern.
Back in Rome since 2022, Eva continues to happily teach Ashtanga Yoga and Ayurveda, both in Rome and internationally.
The practice is a ritual for her, a sacred time to commune daily with her body, her breath, her inner sense of self and to maintain inner quiet. Teaching is for her a way to share her love, inspiration and dedication for these so unique disciplines that can enrich our lives with extraordinary vitality and creativity on all levels and a tool to transmit them in a way that is inclusive, profound, accessible and open minded.
