Ashtanga Mysore Apprentice Program

A unique opportunity to learn how to navigate an Ashtanga Mysore room, by apprenticing an experienced Mysore Teacher and learn by doing under their guidance.

Ever wondered what makes a Mysore Room so full of magic? Here is your unique opportunity to find out, by apprenticing an experienced Mysore Teacher and learn by doing under their guidance.

Based on an apprentice/mentor method and drawing upon the traditional parampara system, this 6 months program will help you better understanding how to work individually with students in a Mysore Room and how to “see” different bodies (both physically and energetically). It will enhance practical teaching skills, including hands-on assists, but it will also help deepening your own sadhana, through practice, independent study and mentoring time.

This program is on application only and we limit the number of apprentices to 2.

For the right student, with the right attitude and the right commitment to practice, this is a unique opportunity to learn how to safely guide others into their own practice of yoga.Whether you have already started to teach or not, this program is for you if you have already an established Mysore practice and the eagerness to commit fully to a Mysore room for this 6 months period. In return, you will be guided deeper into your own practice, mentored on how to navigate in a Mysore Room and build a stronger relationship with your teacher.

Program outline

You will be mentored by Claudia for the whole duration of the program (6 months).Your mentor will be your main teacher for the duration of the program.

You will be asked to practice with your mentor at least 2x week and to assist 1x week. Every assisting session will be followed by a mentoring session (in person or by phone) to give you feedback on your progress in the assisting role and to give you personal assignments (when needed). You will be asked to keep a journal of your assisting.

You will join the Practice & Adjustments 5 days workshop with Claudia & Eva at the beginning of the Apprentice for a deep dive into the hands-on adjustments of primary series (22-26 February 2025). Twice throughout the Apprentice program we will also meet all together for a review session.

You are also invited to practice with the other Mysore teachers at Yoga Circle, to experience different teachers and eventually to assist more hours if you wish.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

CLAUDIA PRADELLA

Claudia teaches yoga as a moving meditation, an uninterrupted flow of movement, breath and concentration. She brings all of her own yoga and healing experiences to her teaching, encouraging each student to become more self-aware and to explore the different aspects of yoga.

She has been practicing yoga since 1999. The encounter with Ashtanga Yoga in her early yoga journey has kindled a life long commitment to practice and to explore the manyfold benefits of this practice under the guidance of various teachers – the Jois family, Lino Miele and Eddie Stern being the most influential. She’s also extensively studied pranayama, yin yoga, mindfulness and breathwork, and has a deep passion for yoga philosophy, the Buddha-Dharma and self-inquiry.

Claudia has been holding a Mysore Program in Amsterdam since 2010 and has guided many students in their path to sharing yoga with others.
