Maryam Hassouni

Her very first experience with yoga was in 2011 in New York City at a shabby place called, Yoga to the People. Pranayama, Vedic meditation, and asana practice give her access to parts of herself which she may never has otherwise been aware of. In a world where so many people suffer from separation, exhaustion and loneliness, Maryam views the practice of yoga as a form of activism, in which we move against the grind culture with love, awareness and compassion. We learn to reconnect with ourselves and with each other.

In her teachings she creates a brave space, in which people can be their true, authentic selves. She has been blessed with many teachers, such as Claudia Pradella, Marilou van Hoek, Petri Räisänen and many more. If she’s not teaching, she is probably writing a book or column on sexism, racism, alienation in modern society, or intersectional feminism.
