A friday evening special Jivamukti class with Karo & Jessica
Jivamukti Yoga sometimes called the WILD CHILD OF YOGA is like the punk rock of yoga: it’s spiritual but edgy too. Deep but dynamic. It’s not just about twisting your body into shapes; it’s a holistic approach to yoga that blends physical postures with spiritual and ethical teachings.
Shared with love by Karo & Jessica to celebrate life, this special class will bring forth all tenants of the lineage and will be soaked with a special theme; based on Bhakti, Ahimsa, music aligned with the theme, yoga philosophy and meditation. Don’t hesitate to join if you’re looking for a Friday evening experience filled with joy & devotion.
In a Jivamukti class you work at your own pace, guided by the teacher’s verbal as well as hands-on guidance. Asana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga:
- shastra (scripture)
- bhakti (devotion)
- ahimsa (kindness)
- nada (music)
- dhyana (meditation)
An Open class presents classical yoga teachings as relevant to one’s life on and off the mat, supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyasa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation and meditation. All Open classes include asanas, meditation and spiritual teachings—in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of ragas, spiritual music, and from hip-hop to classical: the music is the fluid thread through each class. The class is called “Open” because it is open and suitable to all levels of practitioner.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS
KARO TAK
Karo brings a sense of adventure and an open heart to her classes, inspiring students to dive deep and enjoy the journey. She brings 13 years of dedicated practice and continuous learning to the mat.
She acts and speaks from a place of realness and authenticity using the means of yoga and yoga philosophy as her platform. She strives to take students on a yoga trip to self realisation through a lot of sweat, laughter and sometimes tears. Karo teaches strong and dynamic Vinyasa classes with a fast pace, jokes and banter, interspersed with spiritual insight and encouragement, and a smashing play-list!
She is a 800 hr yoga teacher trained in both Jivamukti and Yogasana. She holds her teachers close and spends a lot of time with her teacher Stewart Gilchrist (East London School of Yoga) in London.
JESSICA RIBEIRO
Jessica teaches Vinyasa and Yin yoga, always with an influence of Jivamukti. Coming from a background in dance, movement has always been a part of her life. After leaving dance behind she started practicing more regularly and eventually she participated in multiple teacher trainings. Through Yoga Jessica learned to soften and to appreciate her own body.
In her classes she aims to inspire others to soften as well; to learn to listen to the body and its needs.
Jessica uses music in her classes, as music is what makes the soul
speak. Anything between traditional mantra’s and a good old George Harrisson to uplift the moment is what she mostly enjoy.
It doesn’t always have to be so serious, dare to be different and enjoy the ride!
