The Path of Ashtanga Yoga (100 hrs)

From ancient wisdom to modern practice, a 9-months program to help you establishing a long lasting practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

100 hrs training :  from ancient wisdom to modern practice

As we journey on the path of Ashtanga Yoga, we begin to discover a new connection to our breath, to the ways our body moves, to an enhanced sense of awareness which soon becomes a new way of operating, first on the mat, then off the mat as well. Ashtanga practice develops slowly, requiring effort, patience and dedication, but consistently its effects are felt and wired into our system until it simply becomes a natural part of who we are.

The process of establishing a regular practice can be quite challenging, as we face so many issues all the time, which lead us off the mat into our “busy-ness” mode. Intentionally, this long program will give you the space and the support to go through some of those issues and find practical ways to stay on the mat. You will experience what is like to be a regular practitioner.

How do we handle changes in our lives? Changes in our bodies? A new job, an injury or a health challenge, family problems, a newborn child, pressure at work. Our practice can be of great support to what’s going on in our life at any moment, when we learn how to adapt the practice as needed, rather than maintaining a dogmatic approach to it and wait to come back to practice when everything else if fine again. Often accused to be a too rigid system, practicing Ashtanga yoga has many faces and a variety of ways within the classical framework. More and more in recent years we have seen teachers offering intelligent ways to make this wonderful practice more accessible for many.

Throughout this program we will build a clear container for the practice following its traditional method, as well as learning how to adapt the sequence in ways that will benefit mind & body at time of challenge. You will learn the Primary Series in its full form, and you will also understand how to maintain your practice when time or energy are not sufficient.

You will develop a deeper relationship with your breath and learn some basic kriyas and pranayama practices. You will be guided through mindfulness & meditation sessions, with an invitation to build a regular sitting practice. You will learn what Yoga means according to the traditional teachings presented by Patanjali.

And you will share this journey together with others moving in the same direction, which also provides a great support on the path of yoga.

You also need to be willing to commit for the whole 9 months of the program, to attend all weekends and to dedicated some time EVERY DAY to your practice – even if just 5 minutes. Intentions matter!

The program is fully in English, so you need to be comfortable understanding and speaking English.
